[There's a lot of adjusting that has to happen, for someone like Riku to transition to a position that keeps her on the ground more often than not. A large part of this involves the absolute hilarity that is sending her trainees, and it doesn't take long for her to accidentally become a new kind of infamous for tearing a select few of them to shreds for joining up in some quest for glory and heroism. It's likely she only gets away with this and her continued refusal to be even a little less blunt, relationships to diplomats aside, due to just how much she's contributed on the field.

So when, at the end of a long and trying day of kicking one of them up and down the training rooms, some idiot recruit implies she's only advanced in rank because of who she's shtupping, it ends with that same someone tossed out with their newly broken nose and her casually taping ice to her hand in her office. She never did learn how to throw a punch properly.

This cannot at all be a bad time for people to come bother her.]

Right, right. [Rubbing at her temples.] Am I not allowed to make the reporters cry anymore, or are they fair game?

[He sighs, and leans back against the wall by the door.]

You holding up okay?

I'm fine. [Standing up from her desk and pulling her hair out of the bun it's kept in when she's working.] I was kind of figuring it'd be a little different than a couple hundred trainees constantly asking me how big the wedding's gonna be and when.

[She's honestly pretty dryly amused by the whole thing.] I thought Lumi was gonna be bad enough.

Well, it's pretty high profile. The Ionesco were like the Kennedeys were on Earth, you know. And let's say nothing of our own legacies. It's a big deal to a lot of people who're into the whole cult of celebrity.

[He chuckles.]

And it's a big deal to me, too, though we've still got to figure out a way to get back at Lumi for this.

[Giving him a bit of a 'come hither' gesture, then, before putting her hands on her hips.] Oh, don't get me wrong...it's important to me. I just find it a little funny, I guess...I had myself all braced for someone to cry scandal about me being Lunan, even with the war long done. I didn't expect to gain fangirls. You know, I get letters now?

[He walks right over to her, but just stops in front of her and grins.]

You and I are a symbol to these people, that maybe the aggression between Luna and Mars is over. And of course, high profile marriage aside, you are very cute...

That kind of makes me wonder how they see it back out there...but I'm not really interested in going to find out.

[Tracing a finger under his chin, then, along his jawline.] If we're talking about looks I think you've still more adoring fans than me, Victor.

I've got the home advantage, and I also haven't been hiding from everyone killing pirates for three years.

[He'll just grin a bit wider.]

[Leaning in to tease a kiss.] But I don't much care wherever else we go.

[Placing his hands on her hips and teasing a kiss back, in return.]

One, I think I'd be bending you over your desk, not the other way around. Two, I'm not exactly sure where to take us.... I don't think you'd behave for any kind of drive.

Maybe not, but...[Licking over his lips!] Heard a rumor there's a place not too far from the barracks, just an easy walk, that they tell me technically is under my name.

Keep this up and I'm going to start thinking you got yourself in trouble on purpose.

[Sliding those hands back a little!]

Oh, come on, you're not so overworked I have to resort to something like that!

[Huffing a little bit.]

You mean to tell me you wouldn't do something like that just to see if I was paying attention to you?

[Smirking and pulling her a little closer. Given the fact that his hands are on her ass this might have been a little more intense than he meant it to be.]

I'm saying pulling something that gives you more work would be a little counterproductive...

[Yeah, he's gotten a flush out of her, but since her response is to slide a hand down to honk his ass, she has apparently taken it as a challenge.]

'Sides, if I want to make sure you're paying attention, there a loads of ways that are a lot more fun than punching someone.

Oh yeah? I could stand to see a few of them sometimes, then. It'd be interesting to see how the mercenary queen shows her interest...

[He'll hop a little, then kiss her and let her go.]

...That's...actually that's a really valid point.

[Well, now she's got a look on her face that says she's plotting something, but true to her word, the flat she theoretically lives in on the occasions she's not in whatever room he's staying in or asleep on her desk isn't more than a fifteen minute walk from the base. The flat itself looks fairly modest, but given it's location, it was probably Lumi's doing.]

I know Lumi was anxious to have her best friend back, but I didn't realize that she was going to buy you an apartment to do so.

[But he'll look around a bit as they walk in, since he is curious where she's staying.]

She bought me this back after Mizuki got here...she thought it was better that we both be kept somewhere it was easy for her to keep track of us, for all neither of us are really ever here anymore.

[It's pretty classily furnished, for all Riku's claims of never being there, and the photos around appear to be mostly ones Mizuki keeps of Rikus of all ages, although there appear to be a few of Riku's old school photos in there, and Lumi's in a couple...

There is also a friggin' gigantic piano which is probably Mizuki's, and about eighteen fuckbillion robot models.]

...His decorating sense never did change from when he was twelve.
